Oregon accused by House Speaker Boehner of cheating and fraud by extending food stamps
A bookkeeping device employed to ensure that food stamps continue to find their way to hungry Oregon families was labeled Friday as “cheating and a fraud” by U.S. House Speaker John Boehner.
But Governor John Kitzhaber thought it just the opposite – that the juggling of funds between heating assistance and food stamps solves an immediate problem of hunger by borrowing resources that normally would be available next winter.
