Yaquina River Museum of Art Issues Call to Artists
Will Hold Plein Air Show During Labor Day Weekend Art Walk
The Yaquina River Museum of Art (YRMA) is issuing a call to all artists to submit works painted en plain air (on location) for a juried Plein Air Toledo exhibit to be held in the Museum’s exhibit space during this year’s 21st Annual Art Walk in Toledo and for the subsequent month. YRMA’s purpose is to call attention to the Yaquina River Watershed Region through the eyes of the artists who live and work within it.
All works of art must be done on location within the watershed region between March 15 and July 15, 2014. Seascapes are not included. Submissions are limited to two-dimensional objective work that is hand made and no larger than 154 square inches in size. Acceptable mediums include paintings, drawings, etchings, and wood and Lino cuts. Photography will not be accepted. Artists may submit up to three entries.
The wide time frame for completion of the work will allow for out-of-area artists to arrange travel and for all participants to respond to weather conditions as desired.
A nonrefundable jurying fee of $35 will be charged for up to three submissions per artist. An application form and fee must be submitted prior to beginning the work. Photos of finished work must be submitted no later than July 15 for Phase 1 of the jurying process. Phase 2 will be by invitation, with selected works delivered to the Museum by August 1 for the final acceptance process. All submitted works must be for sale. A 25% commission on sales will be paid to YRMA. Cash awards totaling $1000 will be distributed, with $350 for Best of Show.
A registration forms and prospectus may be obtained from YRMA by calling (541) 336-1907 or may be picked up at from the Museum office at 151 NE Alder Street in Toledo during regular hours. For more information, please visit www.ToledoArts.info
