Small earthquake recorded around 5:30pm Tuesday off Coos Bay
A moderately strong earthquake shook southwestern Oregon and northwestern California late Tuesday afternoon. The shaker was described by those who felt it as a sort of slow, weak shaking. The quake was centered about 250 miles straight out from Coos Bay. There were no reports of any major damage or injuries attributable to the quake which measured 5.1 on the Richter Scale.
