Local contractor Jim Patrick files for Lincoln County Commission Position 1 – for Position 3 it’s a pile on!
Local contractor Jim Patrick has filed for Lincoln County Comission Position One, now held by incumbent Doug Hunt who was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Don Lindly.
Patrick is a nearly 40 year resident of Lincoln County and has his own building contracting company. He’s currently serving on the Newport Planning Commission, past president of the Oregon State Homebuilders Association and is a Governor Kitzhaber appointee to the Oregon Contractors Board.
Patrick says that no one should run unopposed for any office, so that’s a part of why he filed. He said he would like to promote more inter-governmental cooperation among all the cities with the county. It includes include examining how to better coordinate or consolidate some of the fire services among others. Patrick says he wants to save the taxpayers some money.
Patrick says he’s a good listener and promises to do everything he can to make county government work better and more efficiently, just like a business.
In other filings for Position 3 Commissioner is Joseph Hitselberger, of Seal Rock. His occupation is listed as Steward Forester for the Oregon Dept. of Forestery and owner of Wolf Tree Brewery and Sailback Environmental. Other Commission 3 candidates include incumbent Commissioner Terry Thompson along with local attorney and Newport City Councilor David Allen, and Lincoln City Mayor Dick Anderson.
