OREGON COAST CHAMBER MUSIC SOCIETY
OCCMS will hold its second annual Benefit Concert and Silent Auction on Saturday, March 15 at 4:00 PM at the Little Whale Cove ocean-view home of Laurel and Dick Young in Depoe Bay. Guests will enjoy the variety of activity with gourmet wine and food, beautiful music, and an array of both elegant and practical auction items. This event will provide necessary funds to continue bringing world-class, Oregon-connected, classical chamber musicians to the unique home venue on the Oregon Coast that is much appreciated by both guests and performers.
The theme of this festive musical occasion is “An Afternoon in Paris” with renowned violinist Anthea Kreston from the Amelia Trio and accomplished pianist Monica Bunch who will perform selections that include the Blues Movement from a Ravel sonata, “Girl with Flaxen Hair” by Debussy, a sonata by Franck, and “Meditation from Thais” by Massenet. Anthea has received international acclaim and numerous awards for chamber collaboration and made her solo debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. She can be heard on Cedille Records and Channel Classics. Monica Bunch is a Julliard graduate and pianist who has also performed in prestigious concert halls worldwide and has been featured on both radio and TV broadcasts. After performing in a series of world premiere concerts, she was described as “…a pianist of the first rank.”
For further enjoyment, Karen Richards of the Nelscott Wine Shop will pour wine at $5 per glass. The award-winning Taft High Culinary Club will prepare and serve a delightful and varied menu of hors d’oeuvres to please every palette. And last but not least, guests can bid on certificates and gifts of fine wine and dining, entertainment (golf, Rogue River jet boat ride, hotel stay, concerts, movies), spa and salon treatments, car care, art and home décor, designer jewelry and more.
