Yet another fast-moving and powerful Pacific weather front will move across the Central Coast and Coast Range on Saturday, causing strong winds and heavy rain.
The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch, which goes into effect late Saturday afternoon and continues through early Sunday morning. (3:00pm Saturday until 3:00am on Sunday)
* Winds: In coastal communities, south winds 25-35 mph with gusts of 50-60 mph. Near beaches and headlands, 30-40 mph with gusts of 60-70 mph.
* Timing: Beginning mid to late afternoon on Saturday. Winds will begin decreasing a few hours after midnight on Sunday morning.
* Locations include: Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, Newport, Waldport and Yachats.
* Impacts: The high winds may cause tree damage and result in local power disruptions. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Another 1-2 inches of rain associated with this weather system may cause localized flooding of low spots and roadways. With the ground already saturated from previous heavy rainfall, more landslides are also possible.
We will continue to monitor this approaching storm and provide updates as needed.
