The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the Central Oregon Coast, which is in effect from 2:00pm Wednesday to 10:00am Thursday.
* Winds: 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 65 mph.
* Timing: there will be a surge of wind later Wednesday afternoon and early evening. Winds may drop below high wind levels for a brief time Wednesday evening but are expected to increase again Wednesday night into early Thursday.
* Locations include: Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, Newport, Waldport and Yachats.
* Impacts: localized power outages and downed trees. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Weather Factoid: A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
In addition, the current Special Weather Statement remains in effect until further notice for heavy rainfall and possible flooding Wednesday and Thursday.
