The National Weather Service has upgraded its forecast to a High Wind Warning for the Central Coast, in effect Tuesday from 6:00am to 4:00pm . During this timeframe expect south winds 35-45 mph with gusts to 70 mph along beaches and headlands. In our coastal communities, south winds 30-40 mph with gusts to 60 mph.
Impacts include localized power outages and downed trees, and travel will be difficult for high profile vehicles, such as RVs and trucks.
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous wind event is expected or already occurring. The criteria for this type of warning include sustained winds of 40 mph or gusts to 58 mph, which can cause property damage.
