Senitila McKinley honored as “Partner in Prevention”

Senitilla McKinley Partner in Prevention

Senitilla McKinley
Partner in Prevention

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Lincoln County honored Senitila McKinley, Director and Founder of Seashore Family Literacy, Waldport, for her outstanding commitment to the protection of children in Lincoln County at the annual Celebrate the Children fundraising dinner and auction held on February 1, 2014.

Senitila and Seashore Family Literacy has been responsible, in just one year, for training over 100 volunteers and staff in the Waldport community in the Darkness to Light, Stewards of Children, child sexual abuse prevention trainings and has committed to performing regular background checks on all staff and volunteers. For this effort Senitila was awarded “Partner in Prevention” status by the Darkness to Light organization at the end of January. The Seashore Family Literacy has the distinction of being the first agency in Oregon awarded this status.

The Children’s Advocacy Center has been providing Darkness to Light, Stewards of Children, child sexual abuse prevention trainings throughout Lincoln County since 2012. The trainings focus on educating the public on how to recognize and report signs of child sexual abuse and trauma as well as how to protect and prevent children in our community from being victimized. The Darkness to Light organization, based out of Charleston, South Carolina, awards “Partner in Prevention” status to agencies that uphold standards in child protection. Partners in Prevention is a sign to the community that an organization is committed to child sexual abuse prevention and has measures in place to best protect children in their care.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Lincoln County provides assessment and intervention services for local child victims of abuse. The Center’s Board of Directors and staff are very grateful to Senitila and the Seashore Family Literacy staff and volunteers for their amazing commitment to keeping children safe.
