Health care in Lincoln County – What do you think of it? Sound off Wed, Feb 9, at Western Title Building
Local committee reviewing regional healthcare proposals
The Lincoln County Coordinated Healthcare Advisory Committee is seeking public input on Wednesday, February 19, as it continues its review and critique of regional proposals for health improvement projects in Lincoln County – part of a new Lincoln-Linn-Benton Regional Community Health Improvement Plan.
The plan is being developed by the regional Intercommunity Health Network Coordinated Care Organization (IHN-CCO) with oversight by IHN-CCO’s Community Advisory Council. The local committee advises the Lincoln County delegation to the regional advisory council.
Wednesday’s meeting is from Noon to 1:30 p.m., in Conference Room 207 at the Lincoln County Health and Human Services Department’s temporary administrative headquarters in the Western Title Building, 255 SW Coast Hwy, in Newport. The meeting is public and membership on the local committee is open to anyone who wants to participate.
The IHN-CCO manages federal Medicaid services for the region and the health improvement plan will focus initially on the needs of local residents who receive their health care through the Oregon Health Plan. The planning effort is part of Gov. John Kitzhaber’s statewide Health Care Transformation initiative, however, that is aimed at reducing the costs of healthcare, improving access, and improving the quality of care for everyone.
“The local and regional planning that is underway right now could very well create the templates for improvements in health care delivery, quality, and efficiency that will affect everyone in Lincoln County in the next few years and that hope has very much guided the local committee’s work,” according to regional Community Advisory Committee Vice Chair Chandler Davis.
Davis said the improvement plan is currently scheduled to be completed and presented to the regional advisory council for final approval in May; he said he and other members of the regional council’s appointed Lincoln County delegation will be attending Wednesday’s meeting.
