On Saturday at about 6:07 pm, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash near mile post 1 on South Beaver Creek Road in Seal Rock. While on scene, deputies learned Shania Marie Roebuck, 18, of Waldport, had been driving southbound in her 1996 Ford Contour when she lost control of her vehicle and it left the road. Evidence at the scene indicated the vehicle rolled over twice before hitting a tree.
Roebuck had two teenage female passengers in her vehicle at the time of the crash. Deputies learned her front seat passenger, a 17 year old female from Waldport, had not been wearing her seat belt. She was ejected from the vehicle and landed approximately 30 feet away. All three occupants of the vehicle were transported to SPCH by ambulance. The front seat passenger was later transferred to the Salem Hospital for further treatment.
Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicate speed was a major contributing factor as to the cause of this crash. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office investigation is ongoing at this time and criminal charges are anticipated.
