The Newport Warming Center for the homeless will remain open through Monday morning due to the continued cold and wet weather. That will put them right at a full week of services for those who would otherwise be forced to be out in the horrid weather we’ve been seeing the last week. It hurts to even think about it.
At any rate, the longer run has used up some vitals like Milk, Snacks and Cereal. They also need JUICE…the mixed variety preferred, but plain ole Orange Juice is good too. Just bring your donations to the Lincoln County Fairgrounds on NE 3rd near Harney. The warming center is actually inside the fairgrounds Main Exhibit Hall which is where the Winter Farmers Market sets up. So come in the main gate, park and bring your donations inside the building and have them checked in.
The fairgrounds gate is open through 10pm, then locked until 7am the next morning. So before 10pm and after 7am you can drive right in.
Your donations are deeply appreciated.
