Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and freezing rain remains in effect until 10:00pm this evening for the Central Coast. The main precipitation type observed from Newport south has been rain or freezing rain, though snow cannot be discounted farther north. Precipitation is expected to change to all rain by late tonight, but we may still have lighter wintery weather overnight.
Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches of snow and up to a quarter inch of ice or more is possible through this evening, mainly from Newport north to Lincoln City. Points in the southern areas of the county look to remain mostly rain.
Freezing rain, or possibly snow, will make travel treacherous on coastal highways into tonight before surface temperatures warm. Scattered power outages are likely as precipitation changes to freezing rain, bringing down tree limbs and possibly power lines.
