Another snowstorm is on the way from midday Friday into Friday night.
A second low pressure system, similar to today’s weather system, will track into the Central Coast and spread snow into Northwest Oregon from the south beginning midday Friday. A relatively narrow but intense west to east oriented band of snow will likely then develop across Northwestern Oregon on Friday afternoon and evening. Localized accumulations of 6 to 12 inches will be possible. But exactly where between Eugene and Portland remains uncertain. At this point the National Weather Service is leaning towards it setting up in the Eugene to Salem corridor, which would include the Central Coast, but this position is subject to change. A more northern track would likely switch precipitation over to freezing rain or even plain rain in the Southern Willamette Valley around Eugene. Once the current Winter Storm Warning expires, the National Weather Service will likely issue a new winter storm watch, warning or advisory for Friday’s event.
Our current Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10:00pm tonight. There could be additional snow amounts this afternoon and tonight from 1-4 inches along the Central Coast.
