From Interim Pro Tem City Manager Wes Chadwick (also City Attorney)
BTW: Pro Tem is latin for “for the time being…”
On January 22nd, the Toledo City Council appointed Donald W. Munkers as City Manager Pro Tem and authorized the City Attorney to negotiate a contract. Mr. Munkers’ prior experience as a City Manager for the City of Burns, Oregon, General Manager of the Burns Paiute Tribe, and Executive Director of the Idaho Rural Water Association will be beneficial to the City as it moves forward with many projects and the recruitment of a permanent city manager.
Mr. Munkers is expected to start February 4th and remain the City Manager Pro tem until a permanent City Manager is appointed. That could take months according the council.
The City Council will meet on February 11, in its regularly scheduled work session to begin discussing whether the council will use the League of Oregon Cities, a professional recruiter, or perform the recruitment themselves, and the standards and criteria the City will use for the permanent city manager recruitment.
