Legislation to cut food stamps to many lower income American families has passed the House and is enroute to the Senate. Food stamp advocates contend the cuts to roughly 141,000 Oregonians amounts to mass cruelty to children, the elderly and adults, adults whose unemployment has run out and are unable to find work.
Oregon’s five U.S. Representatives were somewhat split on the issue. Our own Rep. Kurt Schrader voted in favor of the cuts. The story is in the Oregonian. Click here.
