On Thursday, January 30, businesses all over Lincoln County are joining together in a massive fundraising effort to help a local family whose lives have been rocked by tragedy. Two weeks ago, Kathy Patten passed away as the result of a massive stroke. She leaves behind her husband, Dave, and their four year old daughter. Dave Patten is a Pepsi sales rep in Lincoln County and this loss has deeply affected his many customers in the local restaurant industry. Several of them joined together to organize and host this week’s event, which includes multiple fundraising efforts at restaurants around the county and an online silent auction.
To participate in the silent auction, you will need to “like” the “TeamKathy PrayforKathy” page. The auction will be held under the “Team Kathy Silent Auction Benefit” event on that page. Items that will be available for bidding include two fishing trips, hotel stays, seafood, a cord of wood, restaurant certificates, gift baskets, hand crafted items, and so much more. One of the event organizers, Beki Hueth of Hallmark Resorts, said, “My phone, email and Facebook messaging have been BLOWING UP with people wanting to donate to the auction! It’s amazing!” Bidding opens at 9:00 a.m. Thursday the 30th and ends at 9:00 pm Friday the 31st. Organizers will ship items to any location, so supporters are urged to spread the word across Facebook and to their out-of-area friends.
Dave and Kathy were season ticket holders and big fans of the Oregon Ducks. Friends of the family and members of the community plan to don their Ducks gear on Thursday as a show of support. Participating businesses will also be decked out in Ducks colors, and ribbons in green and yellow have been tied all around the community in remembrance of Kathy.
All day on Thursday, members of the community are urged to eat at one of the participating restaurants, where you can make donations and know that a percentage of your purchases will be donated to the family. Participants include:
