Becky Miller is Toledo’s featured artist for First Weekend Art in February. Her paintings of kelp offer a literal interpretation of February’s theme, “Water of Life.” As Becky describes it, “Kelp is a highly nutritious and delicious plant, as well as being beautiful, so it nourishes both body and soul.” At Becky Miller Studio, the artist will be showing her newest paintings, her prints, and her new works in progress. She will also be serving refreshments, including a kelp-seasoned dish, wine, and Twisted Snout ales. Becky invites the public to share her love of the ocean and to come get a first look at her paintings before they head out to galleries. Becky Miller Studio is located in the Uptown Arts District, half a block up from Main Street at 167 NE 1st Ave. in Toledo. She will be open from 10-5 Saturday and Sunday, February 1 and 2. For more information about the artist, see www.BeckyMillerArtist.com or visit her Facebook page at Becky Miller, Artist.

She will also be printing schools of juvenile king salmon on Saturday from 12 to 3 pm, and on Sunday she will be using water plants to do nature printing onto the printed schools from the previous day in order to complete these freshwater images.
