Federal Judge: Portland college student, sprayed in face with pepper spray, owes city of Portland over $7K
Elizabeth Nichols sued the city of Portland alleging excessive force after a Portland police officer sprayed her in the face during a 2011 protest. The photo went viral world wide.
But, at this stage of the judicial process, Nichols has lost in court and now Portland City Hall has slapped her with a bill for over $7,000 in court costs.
The city offered to drop the demand if she’d just back off. But she appealed anyway.
