Otter Rock Marine Debris Plastic Sifting Saturday
Join in a cleanup of plastic fragments and other marine debris washed in by recent storms. The clean up is set for Saturday January 25. Help Surfrider Foundation remove these plastic and foam fragments from the beach environment before our beloved tide pool and subsurface sea creatures ingest it. On top of that, we all would like to enjoy our beaches free of such debris!
Sign in time will be from 10am-11:15am and the cleanup will run from 10am-1pm. Meet in the parking lot of Otter Rock State Park by the restroom facility. The park is located 10 miles north of Newport. Look for signs pointing to the turn off the west side of highway 101 for Otter Rock State Park.
Please bring reusable gloves, buckets, colanders with smaller holes, and appropriate attire for volunteering on the beach. We will outfit you with gloves if you need them and bags for picking up and carrying debris. Hot coffee will be available to volunteers at the sign in table sponsored by Central Roast Coffee in Newport.
