Saturday, January 11, at 9:45 at the First Presbyterian Church in Newport, will be the kick-off rehearsal for The Central Coast Chorale’s Spring “Anything Goes” Concerts. Members or new singers who need to register and or audition are asked to arrive at 9:30. The Chorale will be preparing for two concerts, the first is a ‘Mardi Gras’ Celebration on Sunday March 2 at 5:00 PM and a “Gloria” Concert on April 27 at 4:00. Both Concerts will be held at the first Presbyterian Church in Newport.
For the Mardi Gras Concert, CCC will be sharing music with Perpetua Jazz and the Oregon Coast Community College Chorus Class. Women of Note and Equal time will also be performing. Music includes “Anything Goes” by Cole Porter, “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel” arranged by Ralph Hunter, “Zion’s Walls” by Aaron Copland, “Soon And Very Soon” by Andrae’ Crouch, Jazz tunes in New Orleans style and other spirited selection concluding with the traditional “Oh When The Saints Go Marching In.”
The April 27th “Anything Goes” Concert will present three settings of the “Gloria” from three different eras, a Renaissance Gloria by Palestrina, a Classical/Romantic Gloria by Schubert and a contemporary setting by John Rutter. Other selections include “Nox Aurumque” by Eric Whitacre and “Song For Athene” by John Tavener.
