Community Pot Luck January 22nd 6:30 till 9:30 at the Newport Visual Arts Center.
New Year + Your Concerns = New Focus for Our Activism
Come join us for an evening of food and a discussion of what we would like
our community to look like in the future. All ideas large and small are welcome.
Some topics are:
* Log terminal and export of raw logs,
* Homeless warming center,
* Sustainable food system,
* Future of the Visual Arts Center
How Newport/Lincoln County can be part of the effort to mitigate climate change,
How we can organize to stay more on top of what our local government does, so as to have some input on its decisions, and much much more only limited by our imaginations.
You can help us shape CSALT. Together, we can influence our local economy, find a constructive way to respond to the Climate Crisis, to the Economic Crisis, and to the breakdown of our Social Safety Networks. We can no longer rely on government to help us. We at CSALT are eager to hear your ideas and to work with you to solve our problems.
This first potluck will be a kick-off of sorts, on to a time when normal folks like us get active and work to figure out how to solve our biggest problems. We need everyone to give us ideas on how to proceed. CSALT is a small group. We want to represent as large a segment of the community as possible. Could there be a time when we can represent all of it?
So please come and join us for a night of food and fun. Alcohol is allowed if you are of age. We will provide plates and silverware. Please bring a dish or something else that’s edible to share. Bring friends and family. All are welcome in our community gathering. We at CSALT are just normal folks worried because our government is not on our side. We can no longer expect solutions to our problems to come from it.
