Oregon now home to corporations that want to do “good for the community” while they make a reasonable (not maximized) profit.
Nearly 30 companies have filed with the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office as “benefit companies;” those who want to make money but preferring to do it in a way that helps communities meet social and environmental goals. So instead of being your average corporation squeezing every drop of profit out of a market, “benefit companies” are happy to make a decent living while also investing in the community’s quality of life.
