Whether state or federal agency, they’ve all complained long and hard that spending money on fire prevention yields huge benefits but which are often obliterated when mega-wildfires consume mountains of cash to put out. And each year those mega-fires get bigger and more expensive. Fire prevention just can’t get any traction.
Senator Ron Wyden has stepped into the breach in an effort to find a way to ensure that fire prevention funds aren’t eaten up every summer because not enough fire prevention work has been done in our state and federal forests.
