Little Christmas Tree: An anonymous community project

Little Christmas Tree on the side of Highway 229 near Siletz. A group of donors have assembled one piece at a time. Don’t know if it’s done or not.
Siletz area resident William Smith started noticing something rather out of place as he was driving along Highway 229 recently, just north of Toledo. As he passed it again he slowed down, and sure enough it was a little Christmas Tree on the shoulder of the highway.
Smith says he doesn’t know who’s doing the anonymous decorating but it sure is cute and definitely in the season.
Then a few days later Smith noticed more ornaments and other Christmas-type symbols hanging in the roadside tree branches. And over the past week they have grown in number as well.
Smith says “It sure is wonderful. Very much in keeping with the season. I just love it.”
Another reader offered these clues as to the nature of the “holiday eruptions” along 229: “It started about 7 years ago with random ornaments from Siletz to Toledo. The little tree appeared 4 years ago. Santa & Elf hats are new arrivals this year. The display at the weigh station is also new.”
Verrrry Interesting…..
