The Small Business Development Center at Oregon Coast Community College saved one present it wants you to wait until January to unwrap – its powerful “Business Start-Ups and Tune-Ups” class.
This ten-week entrepreneur’s planning course is the perfect class for business owners with just a few years experience, as well as those would-be entrepreneurs who haven’t yet pulled the trigger and launched their own business. The class starts Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Lincoln City campus, at 3788 SE High School Drive.
“This course is a must for those before they start a business, and a great ‘tune up’ for those already in business,” said one former student in a recent post on the SBDC’s Facebook page. This 30-hour course will help you match your personal and professional goals. Students will assess their entrepreneurial make-up. Those already in business will learn how to tune-up their business to run more smoothly.
By developing a business plan framework that includes a mission statement, financial forecasts, marketing strategies, location, pricing, personnel and more, you will be planning for your future success. The $180 tuition includes a comprehensive notebook and study guide valued at $80. “This term, this class will be held in the Lincoln City OCCC campus,” said Dave Price, SBDC Director. “We’re really pleased about the timing, as we’re also offering 100 percent tuition assistance for this class – or any other SBDC class – this term for any business located within the Lincoln City Urban Renewal District, thanks to a generous Economic Development Grant from the City’s Urban Renewal Agency.”
Price added that income-based scholarships are also available for students from all across Lincoln County. “Each term, we have students who drive more than an hour to attend this class,” Price said. “And I’ve yet to speak to one who regretted that drive!”

Other small business classes coming to OCCC campuses this winter include a 5-part Quickbooks Pro 2013 class, Shoebox Accounting and a variety of social media marketing and other technology classes.
Spouses and/or business partners may attend FREE, but must pre-register.
