Summary: Shades of gray in the moderate fog yesterday, though the southern half of the Central Coast was a whiter shade of pale with Yachats and Waldport seeing some masked sunshine. Highs were at 50F or slightly above, lows in the mid to lower 40s. A little bit of light rain and drizzle late in the day, and winds were fairly light. Clearing overnight revealed a nearly-full moon just before daybreak. A few foggy patches remain this morning but they’re dissipating.

Forecast: Spring-like today with sunshine and a high in the low 50s, light winds. Tonight patchy fog returns, low about 40F. Tomorrow a few more clouds mixed with the sunshine and still relatively warm, high 50F. By tomorrow night a not-too-violent weather disturbance arrives with light rain or drizzle, and not much wind. Outlook is for a 50-50 chance of rain on Wednesday, a little cooler, high 45F or so. The rest of the week mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, patchy fog, light winds and temperatures in the 40s.
Travel: Highways 18, 20 and 34 passes are about 40F this morning headed to 50F, no issues. If you’re traveling south on Highway 101, expect delays up to 20 minutes near Florence in a construction zone there.
Cascadia: A magnitude 4.7 earthquake occurred yesterday about 10:00am just west of Tofino, Canada, off Vancouver Island.
Marine: For opening day of the 2013 commercial crab season, seas are still up around 13 feet this morning, but are expected to be down to 10 feet by this afternoon. Depoe Bay bar is closed to all vessels this morning. Yaquina Bay bar is restricted for boats 40 feet and less. NE winds are running in the 10-15 knot range, gusting to 20 and will continue near there through tonight, with seas subsiding to 8 feet. Tomorrow N winds down to 5-10 knots, backing to the W, seas 6 feet. Outlook is for northerly winds rising Wednesday to 15-20 knots, seas back to 8 feet. A blow Wednesday night into Thursday with N winds ramping up to 20-25 knots gusting 30, seas 9 feet building to 10. Friday, SW wind 10-15 knots and seas settling down to 4 feet.
