Toledo City Manager Michelle Amberg is headed for Creswell, just south of Eugene, to be their new city administrator effective the middle of January. Amberg says she is excited that her new position comes with a directive from the city council to push hard for economic development.
Creswell is about eight miles south of Eugene with a population of just over five thousand. Toledo has a population of 3,642.
Amberg said that she didn’t seek out the job, the town of Creswell sought her out and that they have been talking for a while about her becoming Creswell’s top executive in the city. She said the move makes sense for her and her husband in that she wants to devote more of her time to economic development issues and that her husband will have more employment opportunities in the valley. She said both their families live in the Grants Pass area so access to them will be a lot more convenient.
Amberg says she and the Creswell City Council will have to negotiate salary, benefits and other aspects of her employment but that she’s confident she’ll take over the administrative duties at Creswell City Hall in mid-January.
