Travis James of Toledo succums to cancer – Leaves wife and 4 children behind – Benefit for them at Pig Feathers/Twisted Snout, Toledo
On Sunday, December 8 from 11 am to 8 pm, Pig Feathers BBQ is hosting a silent auction and fundraising event for the family of Travis James, who passed away recently from cancer, leaving behind a wife and four children. Travis worked at the Georgia Pacific mill in Toledo and the family lives in Newport.
On the day of the fundraiser, Pig Feathers will be donating $2 of every meal sold, and Twisted Snout Brewery will be donating $2 of every draft beer sold directly to the family. Donations for the family in any amount, large or small, may be added to customers’ dining checks all week and during the event.
Additionally, over 65 items have been donated by the community for a silent auction that will go on all day at the restaurant. Items include a basketball autographed by the Portland Trailblazers in 1977, a life size Ms. Brown M&M figure, a deluxe toddler bouncy play set, a taxidermied wolf, sterling silver rings with semi-precious stones, an hour massage, horsemanship lessons from Bright Horizons, personal Pilates training, gift baskets, gift certificates, and much more.
From 5 to 7 pm, the dining room will be reserved for a celebration of life. An open mic will be available for friends and family to share their memories of Travis. Food service will continue to be available in the pub portion of the building. Families with children, however, should plan to eat before or after the service.
