Oregon State Parks, in conjunction with America State Parks, will celebrate the 2014 First Day of the New Year Guided Hike at South Beach State Park. Still looking for a New Year’s Resolution? No worries, we have you covered. Join us on January 1st of 2014 for a guided hike through the trails of South Beach State Park. Share in the adventure as we hike our way through the timeless foredunes that have shaped South Beach’s landscape and the wetlands that have made a home to a diverse community of plants and animals.
Our guided hike will travel along the historic South Jetty where wildlife enthusiasts will marvel at the abundant gathering of wintering waterfowl and shore birds that find their way into the Yaquina Bay. The hike will start at the Jetty trailhead located in the South Beach State Park Day Use.
The hike will be approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes long and will cover 2 miles of paved trails and dirt paths. Hot coffee and tea will be available for participants to fight off the winter cold. Be prepared for the weather because this is a rain or shine event.
