Another one of those “Burn to Learn” exercises took place in Waldport this morning. Looks like north of the downtown area. Didn’t take long.
Burn to Learn is an important drill to give new volunteers a taste of “the real thing” and to experience the power of a concentrated fire. They learn why there are so many rules and protocols associated with qualified entry into and exit out from the fire and why. They also learn that while it’s important to put out a building fire, it’s also important that surrounding buildings are not needlessly damaged or destroyed.
Here’s how the progression went, through photographs provided by James Fitzgerald and Fred Gangas. Click on photos to enlarge.
