Reefs off Yaquina Head

Earlier in the day we got a report from someone who said they spotted what looked like two large pieces of what might be Japanese Tsunami debris just southwest of Yaquina Head. The Coast Guard was notified and they immediately launched a reconnaissance helicopter who begas searching the coast south of Yaquina Head to the north.

Upon closer examination by a Coast Guard helicopter and myself with a 1200 mm camera lens, the two objects were determined to be very low profile reefs a third to a half-mile southwest of Yaquina Head. It is not Japanese Tsunami debris.

By the way the winds are dead calm, visibilities are very good and it is a FREE DAY at Yaquina. Head. No cost to get in! So after the big meal, head on out to the Yaquina Head Lighthouse and enjoy walking off a few calories among stunningly beautiful surroundings!
