Newport Police were called to a large storage facility behind the South Beach Post Office Wednesday evening on a report that a woman had been battered and sexually assaulted.
Reports indicated that the woman had called 9-1-1 claiming she had been beat up by a man living inside one of the very large storage lockers. Police found both parties separated, the woman outside, the man inside. One report was that the man was in the process of forcing the woman to move out of the facility.
The woman was transported to PCH for an evaluation and evidence gathering that would help make a case, or not, that she had been physically or sexually assaulted.
More details Thursday.
Thus far this morning, no one has been booked into the Lincoln County Jail on cape or assault charges according to jail staff.
