Toledo City Council goes live on the internet.
This week the Toledo City Council became the second city in Lincoln County to broadcast their meetings live on the internet. And from what we could tell, everything went well. However the “automatic archiving” function so people could watch it later was not triggered due to an audio problem, according to Toledo High School video instructor Peter Vince. Vince supervises the broadcast which is run by his high school students. Vince says anyone with a computer and high speed broadband cable or DSL service can watch the council’s meetings live by going to Justin.TV.com and creating an account. The service is FREE.
Vince says there’s still a few bugs to work out but it’s largely up and running. He says signing up at Justin.TV.com is simple and again, the service is free.
Vince’s high school students also video the Newport City Council. “Newport is not quite ready yet, technically, to go on line,” according to Newport Clerk Recorder Peggy Hawker, but she adds “we’re getting closer.”

I am very eager to be able to view Newport City Council, Planning commission and all other boards and commissions online at will in the comfort of my own home on my own computer tied into my TV screen. It would also be great to view them after the fact as us old people need our sleep and some of those meetings do run awful late. This will be a great service. I don’t know what the hold up is in Newport and I hope the road block gets resolved soon. This is also great as one does not need to subscribe to cable TV to view off the Internet.
