Newport area contractor Bernie Stoll and his wife Tamara (top photo) were honored and felt very blessed to have a couple hundred of their closest friends show up to throw a fundraiser for them Saturday night at the Newport Yachat Club.
Bernie was recently injured when he fell off the roof of a house he was working on. The fall broke his back but he’s walking by virtue of a back and neck brace. Bernie and Tamara gave thanks to the huge crowd that showed up to wish him a speedy recovery and to drop off cash donations, buy raffle tickets, participate in a silent auction and get in a little dancing.
Bernie and his wife Tamara said they were overwhelmed by the crowd and their generosity in helping them get through a rough financial patch since Tamara’s teaching job at Nye Beach Montessori is on hiatus during the summer and it’ll be a while before Bernie can get back to work.
Party promoters vow there will be other group efforts to help the couple, which continues to prove that Newport is a loving and giving community for long time residents who have given much to the community themselves.
