A woman, working on the remodeling of the old Flashbacks restaurant on 101 in South Beach, got into her car to leave. She turned on the ignition and within a few moments flames were wafting out from underneath her car’s hood.
She jumped out and called 9-1-1 and within a couple minutes the fire department was on scene with water on the fire. In a few moments the fire was out, leaving a damaged engine for fire fighters to lookover. Thus far no specific cause but firefighters said they could smell gas.
Just two days ago the car’s owner said she got a repair recall from Chevrolet saying her 1998 Chevy Lumina should be checked for a possible electrical problem with the ignition.
