Northwest Poets Concord in Newport May 4-7

Ninety-five poets, 30 sessions, three days. The fourth annual Northwest Poets Concord is the place to be whether you write poetry, want to write it someday, or just want to hear how some of the finest poets in the Northwest do it. Workshops, presentations and readings begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 4 at the Hallmark Inn and Resort in Newport. Saturday sessions will be held from 9 am to 5 pm, followed by an open mic. Sunday sessions will be held from 9 am to 1 pm.

David Biespiel, founder of the Attic Institute, a literary studio in Portland, will give the keynote address, “A Poet’s Three R’s” on fresh ways to read, write and revise. The advice has been given to poets for centuries: To write poetry you must read poetry.

Registration for the entire conference is $35. Separate day registrations are $5 each for Friday and Sunday, or $25 for Saturday.
