Story provided by Jonah’s Whale Thrift Shop
On Saturday February 4th from 9-3 Jonah’s Whale will be Open.
Over the past 22 years, Kelly Morris the Director of Jonah’s Whale has been a charitable steward in our community. Jonah’s Whale Thrift Shop was originally funded and established by Denise Warner in 1990. Jonah’s Whale is one of Newport’s most lively resources for families and individuals. Distinctive characteristics inside Jonah’s Whale include: one-of-a-kind threads for men, women and children, an energizing conversation about community happenings, a cart full of snacks and baby food, toys & housewares, all wrapped up in a true sense of benevolent generosity.
Kelly Morris is “on the front lines” serving many homeless families and individuals in our community. With generosity and compassion, Jonah’s Whale provides free food, clothing and resources to help our neighbors in need. Come meet Kelly at this landmark “Community Livingroom” Saturday February 4th – located across from Progressive Options – 614 SW Hurbert St., Newport.
Jonah’s encourages folks to come by and shop, donate clothes, sign-up to volunteer, and there will be a special writing station set up to scribe a personal letter to First Lady Michelle Obama. Through our letters we can collectively share our hopes for the future. We plan to ask her to visit Lincoln County the next time she is in Oregon. . Let us use this time to connect with each other on many levels.
See you there!

This is such a great little store. I grew up in the isles of Jonah’s Whale. Kelly cares about this community more than anyone could even begin to understand. This is not just a thrift store, there is no profit gained. Everything just goes right back to people of Lincoln County.
Keep Rocking it Jonah’s Whale.
