For the next two months, Toledo artist Becky Miller’s paintings are being displayed in an invitational one-person show in the lobby of the Sylvia Beach Hotel in Nye Beach. The paintings on display all depict birds, tide pools, and kelp from the beach and bay front in Newport.

The Sylvia Beach Hotel is designed with the avid reader in mind. Each room is themed for a particular well-known author and upstairs is a library and reading room with a beautiful ocean view. The lobby, where visiting artists’ work is displayed in rotating shows throughout the year, is open
for visitors during business hours, and tours of the rooms are available.

Becky’s goal as an artist is to inspire in the viewer a deeper appreciation and respect for all living things. In her personal quest to call attention to the beauty to be found in everyday subject matter, Becky particularly enjoys producing artwork that incorporates non-traditional subject matter or angles of view. Her current work focuses on images of kelp, tidepools, sea life, local farm animals, wildlife, and local landscapes, emphasizing the underlying organic abstract design and movement.

Becky’s studio is located in Skybound Art Gallery at 305 N. Main Street in Toledo. She shares the space with three other local artists, and all four artists work in full view of the public. Skybound is open whenever one of the artists is working, meaning it is open most days fromjust after breakfast until 8:00 or later at night.
