State fire officials are asking local residents to cease backyard burning through next Wednesday due to HIGH FIRE DANGER.

They say easterly winds are already starting to bear down on the coast causing already fairly dry brush and trees to fall victim to wayward sparks and flaming embers coming from a backyard debris pile.

So they’re asking everyone to hold off until the winds are expected to die down – long about Wednesday or Thursday. They say just cover your burn pile and wait until after the first rain and then light it up.
