Pacific Coast Wind Ensemble
Yachats Commons, December 9th

The Pacific Coast Wind Ensemble will present its sixth annual Holiday Concert on Saturday, December 9 at the Yachats Commons beginning at 2 PM. Proceeds from the concert will benefit South Lincoln County Resources.

The program will draw heavily on traditional favorites woven into carol medleys, but also contemporary music from Christmas movies, and lively marches and tunes from the concert band repertoire.

Refreshments will be available at intermission, as well as baked items for sale to take home.

Our conductor for the concert will be David Olson in his first appearance as principal conductor. David has had a long history with the band, serving as co-director and lead alto sax in prior years. David is assisted by two associate conductors: Chris Lewis from the South Region and John Trullinger from the North.

The concert is free but a donation of $5/ person and $10/family would be appreciated. Proceeds will go to South Lincoln County Resources. Non-perishable food items will also be collected for the Yachats Food Pantry.

The Pacific Coast Wind Ensemble is composed of about 35 professional and amateur musicians from the central Oregon coast, and has provided concert band entertainment for more than twenty years. The band plays several concerts every year throughout the region. In addition to the Seasonal Celebration Concert in Yachats, they will be performing at the “Sea of Lights” event at the Oregon Coast Aquarium Saturday, December 16, Spring concerts in Florence and Newport, Beachcomber Days in Waldport plus this year’s Waldport High School graduation.

If you play a musical instrument no auditions are required to join the band. Rehearsals are Monday nights during the school year, alternately in Waldport and Florence. Most of the members are adult, but high school students make up about a third of the band. For further information, please visit our web site at

As part of the Band’s outreach program, we provide scholarships to local music students, mainly from Newport, Waldport and Siuslaw High Schools. Persons interested in applying for a scholarship should contact the music teacher at their local school.
