Ride for Recovery riders ready to roll at Grocery Outlet, Lincoln City – archive photo

From Ride for Recovery:

When a client enters Hope or Drug Court, a grant pays for most everything. However, there are always things these people need that the grant can’t pay for. So we started raising money to help these individuals achieve a better life.

People came from far and wide to this event, Klamath Falls, Seaside, Beaverton and even upper Washington. This was our 7th year and what a success. The Ride was a huge success, we raised $3006.00 for Lincoln County Drug and Hope Court clients and this is the most we have raised to date. A very special and sincere thank you to all of our local businesses who donated, because without our donors this event would not be possible. I want to give a special thank you for all the help from everyone involved in the ride yesterday, there is no way one person could do such a special event, thanks to Lincoln County Mentors, ReConnections Counseling, Confederated Tribe of the Siletz Indians, Alky Angels, Pioneer’s MC, Christian Crusaders, and all of the riders, thanks to Lincoln City Police Department, everyone who came to eat and all those who helped at the park. And a very special thanks to my wonderful wife, Lori Leake-Smith, our daughter Dawnitta Desler along with all our grandchildren who helped, with all of you this event became very special. Let’s not forget my father and mother in law, John and Frances Leake who opened their house and property up for the out of town riders to stay overnight and camp out. A special thanks to the Honorable Judge Paulette Sander’s and Honorable Judge Thomas Branford, without them Drug Court and Hope Court would not exist. There were so many individuals involved in making this event special that if I missed anyone thank you too. We look forward to next year.
