UPDATED 5:20 pm—-

Highway 20 was closed for several hours this morning following a head-on crash that sent three to the trauma center in Corvallis. Oregon State Police report that a Toyota with two aboard straightened out a slight curve in the construction zone just east of Eddyville, and collided head-on with an oncoming Kia Soul.

The Toyota’s 35 year old female driver, Kirstin Heins, was very seriously injured and was air-liftd by REACH to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. Due to the severity of her injuries she was later airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. Her 35-year old husband, Mathieu Brown, suffered less serious injuries, and was transported by ground ambulance to Good Sam in Corvallis. Both are from Prescott, Arizona.

The Kia’s driver, Danniel Day, 49, of Newport, was also transported by ground ambulance to Good Sam with non-life threatening injuries.

All wore seat belts the air bags in Day’s Kia deployed. No word on what caused the Toyota to cross over the center line on the curve.
